Instructor (Term Full-Time)

Applied Computer Education, Entrepreneur in Residence

 

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Term Position Available 

SALARY: $62,129 - $92,271 per annum*

*The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.

DUTIES

Reporting into the Chair of Entrepreneur in Resident, the Instructor will deliver both online and on-campus curriculum and facilitate student projects at the Applied Computer Education project space. The Instructor will mentor students on topics such as DevOps, user experience, cloud computing, and project management. Duties will include delivering workshops to students, collaborating with others, and engaging students to create meaningful applied learning opportunities. Successful candidates will also contribute to the learning environment of the department by committing to ongoing professional development to stay current with industry practices, supporting the learning of peers, and participating in departmental and College projects or committees. Solid technical expertise paired with strong communication and intercultural skills are required to inspire students in a blended learning environment.  Please include your area of specialization on your application.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in computer programming, software development, web development or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Several years of recent work experience in application IT Operations or DevOps
  • Experience with project documentation and technical writing
  • Experience with multiple stages of the project life cycle
  • Experience with User Experience and User Interface philosophies and practices
  • Experience with IT Service Management philosophies and practices
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with changes in technology and processes
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment with a collaborative approach
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching in a post-secondary environment
  • Experience with Agile project management, project management or IT service delivery
  • Experience mentoring, leading a team, training or coaching
  • Experience with developing training materials
  • Experience working on research projects
  • Certification in ITIL

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
  • This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
