Introduction
The Strategy and Innovation Branch (SIB) supports the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) broader strategic and transformation agenda by providing central coordination of department change initiatives, including strategic and operational planning, project, project portfolio and change management services, as well as government-wide workforce analytics and reporting, and the development and implementation of evidence-based workforce legislation and policies.

Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Post secondary education in a related area (i.e. continuous improvement, innovation, project management, change management, business or public administration) or, an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience
  • Experience leading the design, development, implementation and evaluation of modernization, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives, projects, and events.
  • Experience conducting research, analyzing information, identifying trends and providing strategic options to broad and varied audiences.
  • Strong verbal communication skills including effective presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong written communication skills including the ability to draft clear and concise written communication for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to establish relationships, understand stakeholder needs and use political acumen and influence to engage buy-in and influence accountability for assigned work.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and identify creative solutions to complex issues.
Desired:
  • Knowledge and experience in applying innovative tools, techniques, and methodologies to improve business processes.
  • Experience using software such as SharePoint, Visio and Smartsheet.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in French.
Duties:
Reporting to the Manager, Modernization and Innovation, the Innovation Consultant is accountable for leading innovation and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the strategic priorities and goals of the branch, department and government. The Innovation Consultant will work with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to identify innovation and continuous improvement objectives, provide advice and develop strategic plans and approaches to solve problems, and review and design new business processes, programs and services using innovative methods and approaches. The Innovation Consultant will develop and maintain a framework and toolkit for innovation and continuous improvement to drive innovative thinking and problem solving within the department and across government.
