Northern Research Coordinator- Northern Regional Health Authority 

Thompson, Manitoba Full Time 

POSITION SUMMARY 

Under the direction and supervision of University of Manitoba, co-supervision of NRHA (working with study coordinator), the Northern Research Coordinator will coordinate the deliverables of the Canadian Institute for Health Research project entitled, "A Northern Prenatal care network with an Indigenous System Navigator to Improve Care Transitions and Health Outcomes for Indigenous woman in Northern Manitoba"

This includes: 

  • Recruiting woman to participate in survey about their experiences at Thompson General Hospital; 
  • Collecting data for woman's experiences with prenatal and obstetric in Thompson General Hospital;
  • Overseeing the project team responsible for auditing data collected;
  • Overseeing the process of data cleaning with research team at the University of Manitoba and Wiiji'idiwag Ikwewag;
  • Collaborate with the study coordinator to report results with the larger study team;
  • Lead publications of data with members of the research team;
  • Advise and engage in the research process;
  • Supervise the planning and coordination of the community engagement meetings, community visits, and knowledge translation activities in collaboration with the study coordinator; 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing or other allied health profession and related experience;
  • Previous clinical research experience as asset;
  • Experience working with communities in First Nations health;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the impact of colonization and Indigenous specific racism;
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture, launguage, history, governance, and issues;
  • Fluency in First Nations language an asset;
  • High degree of written, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Able to handle mutiple assignments with competing deadlines;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Ability to travel and willing to work flexible hours;
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Preference will be given to candidate with roots in a Northern First Nations Community
